About Us

Welcome

Welcome to the 27th anniversary of St. Helen Catholic School and our celebration of excellence and new beginnings. We are home to the 2014-2015 Galveston-Houston Archdiocese Teacher of the Year – Mrs. Lilia Keister! Mrs. Keister (K teacher) is a fine representative of our instructional staff. The entire St. Helen community is extremely proud of Mrs. Keister.

SHCS is also home to the 2016 School Board of Excellence. The Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston bestowed this award on our well-deserving School Board in September 2016. We are blessed with their vision and leadership.

We are also proud to announce that we were honored with the 2021 Inaugural Archdiocesan Leadership Awardee, Dr. Phyliss Coleman. The award is given to an individual that consistently demonstrates exceptional leadership. The award also acknowledges and celebrates an exemplary leader that has had a significant and positive impact on advancing the mission of Catholic education in the Archdiocese by involving people, events, programs, projects, and teams to a common purpose.

All of our staff are worthy of awards……please get to know them and St. Helen Catholic School! We are dually accredited by the TCCED (Texas Catholic Conference Education Department) and Cognia (formerly AdvancEd).

We, the community of St. Helen Catholic School, firmly believe that learning is a life-long process to be nurtured and sustained at all levels. At the heart of the educational process is the faith formation of all persons, especially our students, through the personal commitment of each staff member and an academic program centered on Christian values.

Our students know that we have high expectations for them, and they strive to meet them. We welcome involvement from parents and the community as together, we ensure our school maintains our Catholic identity. Our national Catholic School theme is “Faith. Excellence. Service.” Our continued mission is to grow children in “Wisdom, Age, Grace” or WAG!
